In the "Demon Slayer" anime, both Kaigaku and Zenitsu were trained under the former Thunder Hashira, Jigoro Kuwajima. Zenitsu shows great respect towards him. In the episode "Demon Slayer" Season 1, Episode 17 ("You Must Master a Single Thing"), you can see Kaigaku mistreating Zenitsu in an attempt to make him quit the training, and Zenitsu believed that he was right. Gyomei fought with the demon until sunrise. This is how Kaigaku betrayed the Stone Hashira and became a demon.

In the latest episode of Demon Slayer Season 4, during the Hashira training arc episode 8, ("Hashiras assemble") at the Ubuyashiki mansion. In this episode, Muzan Kibutsuji tries to kill Kagaya Ubuyashiki, the leader of the Demon Slayer Corps. However, Kagaya Ubuyashiki anticipated Muzan's visit and set a trap to kill him. Kagaya rigged the mansion to explode, weakening Muzan's regeneration ability. Meanwhile, all the Hashiras assembled at the mansion to attack Muzan. When everyone cornered Muzan, he smiled and opened the gate to the Infinity Castle, causing not only the Hashiras but also the entire Demon Slayer Corps to be drawn into the castle. Where Inosuke and Zenitsu's reaction is ultimate when they enter the Infinity Castle.
